Ever dreamed of becoming a scientist working in a lab, peering down a microscope and unknown organisms, and charting the way forward for science? Well even if you didn’t, here’s your chance to maybe be the next Bill Nye.
A kickstarter campaign is currently underway to fun the Micro Phone Lens, a tiny lens that you can affix to the camera of a smartphone to turn it into an instant microscope. The lens is optically identical to glass, but cannot be scratched, and can be washed out with soap and water. The inventor, Thomas Larson, hopes that putting the Lens in the hands of younger smartphone users will encourage them to find out more about the world they live in, and possibly pursue a career in science.
The campaign has so far raised over $76,000 in funding, despite having a target of only $5,000.
