There are many people who have been gone on to become immortalized as statues or sculptures. There have been politicians, leaders, saints, singers, and countless others. To have a statue of yourself erected somewhere is surely a great honor, and is a lifetime ode to your brilliance.
So it makes perfect sense that a group of ambitious people want to raise money to build a statue of Steve Jobs. Their asking price? $50,000.
Now I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure that kind of money won’t build a very large statue. Indeed, the campaign’s page says that the money will be used to produce a statue that correlates to he amount raised, but that “the project budget is based on quotes for a life-sized statue.”
There are some fantastic rewards on offer, with $100 nabbing you Jobs’ biography, $200 your very own black turtleneck, and $999 gets your name on the plaque.
I can just see it now – “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning for iPhones…“
