I’m swapping my CPU air cooler for an AIO water cooler and will need to clean off the thermal paste before reapplying and fitting the new cooler. It’s recommended to use 90% pure isopropyl alcohol. I’ve been told that you can buy 70% stuff in a few places such as pharmacies but no idea if I can get the 90%. Apparently the 70% stuff can leave residue on the surface of the chip.
Any help would be most appreciated.
I went with the 70% stuff in the end and it worked perfectly well.
Those pads from the pharmacy are pretty much what I used as well. They work really well and are easily available.
iam using the Alcohol swabs to clean the thermal paste and other hardware parts for over 10 years, i never experience any issue using it , you can get the swab in pack at the pharmacy.
