You cannot argue with the fact that Kindle helped revolutionise the eBook industry. While there were eBook readers available before Amazon released their first ever Kindle, there was no real standard. I bought my first Kindle not long after Amazon started selling them but when the iPad was released, I thought that that my Kindle would be chucked into the land of no return. However that was not the case. With the backlight on devices like the iPad and Amazon’s Kindle Fire, my reading experience was nowhere as comforting as the E-ink based Kindle. And until today, I still read my books on that device.
About the only thing I wish it had was some kind of light that made it easier to read in dark without carrying a separate light pack for it. And Amazon did just that when they announced the Kindle Whitepaper. It was present at IFA and I managed to get a little tour of the device that is expected to be released next month.
