Samsung is no stranger to experimenting with product form factors. They introduced the phablet to the world with the Galaxy Note as well as 10X optical zoom in a phone with the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Now they are getting ready to enter the smartwatch market with the announcement of the Galaxy Gear. I had a chance to briefly briefly play with the Galaxy Gear at IFA this year and the video above shows you some of that.
As you can see in that video, the number of apps available for the Galaxy Gear are impressive to say the least. The unit feels slightly sluggish at times but Samsung still has a few weeks left before it’s officially released and I’m sure they’re working hard on optimizations. The Galaxy Gear is scheduled for a global roll-out by the end of September and I would imagine the Middle East will be a part of that. It is priced it at US$299.
